In places like Little India and Arab Street, many old shophouses have been renovated and preserved. They have been transformed into shops and restaurants, attracting locals and many tourists. 

Surrounded by high-rise buildings, it forms an interesting contrast.

Clementi By Night

 After 3 years of Covid-19, finally decided to make a trip back to Singapore, back to Clementi.

Nothing really changes, the same crowd, the same buildings.

The first night walking around and captured these two photos.

Pink Dot SG

Pink Dot SG, known exonymously as Pink Dot, is an event that has occurred annually since 2009 in support of the LGBT community in Singapore. Attendees of Pink Dot events gather to form a "pink dot" to show support for inclusiveness, diversity and the freedom to love in the country. Pink Dot events typically include concert performances and booths sponsored by organizations that support the LGBT community and cause in addition to the event's name-brand formation.

The success of Pink Dot in Singapore has inspired similar events in several other countries, leading to the event to become known as Pink Dot SG — SG being an initialism for Singapore. It has been held each year in Singapore from 2009 to 2019 at the Speakers' Corner in Hong Lim Park on a Saturday in the months of May, June or July. The 2020 and 2021 editions were held as online livestreams, in view of the global COVID-19 pandemic. The 2022 edition was held in-person once again in June.

This year, back to Singapore in June, walking from Orchard to Chinatown, passed by Hong Lim Park and realised that the infamous Pink Dot event was going on.

Stopped for a while to snap some photo, was unable to really join in because one of us is a foreigner and as a foreigner he is not allow to participe in the event.

 

Nevertheless, still feel amazing to be able to witness the event in Singapore.

Back To Holland

Holland village , a place full of memories both good and back. I lived in Holland Close, the poor cousin of Holland Village, but Holland Village was my playground. Many happening, some unspeakable.

Before it became the 'in street, then faded. Before they torn down the only existing open air cinema, before lives were simple.

Get Wet In Orchard

Avoid getting wet in Orchard Road while shopping was thought to be easier, since almost all the various shopping malls are linked either by unsurpassed ( which are shopping mall itself ) or by overhead bridges ( which are part of the mall ). However, navigating direction proved to be not an easy task and after getting wrong a far too many times, heading towards the open air space was the more advisable option.

That means, went under the rain and crossed a physical traffic road to the other as complicated mall.

Jetlag

First night is always jetlag, sleep, awake, sleep, awake..
So instead of forcing myself to sleep, I woke up and made myself two half boiled eggs and went out to have this photo.

There are plenty of huge trees in clementi and the host many family of birds who make a lot of noise when  they returned home  in the evening.
